A Louisiana judge running for re-election was found guilty Saturday of multiple counts of sex crimes against three young women, as young as 14, who were friends with his teenage daughters. St. John Parish Judge Jeff Perilloux
St. John Parish Judge Jeff Perilloux was convicted of three felony counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and a fourth count of misdemeanor sexual battery after prosecutors accused him of grooming the girls.
One of the victims, a 15-year-old girl who identified herself as Perilloux’s daughter’s best friend, accused the judge, 53, of giving her back massages in May and June 2017, according to NOLA.com. He also groped her breast during one assault for 15 to 20 seconds.
She also accused Perilloux of putting his hands down her bathing suit bottom during a family trip to Florida.
A 14-year-old girl claimed Perilloux of forcing her to let him rub sunscreen on her. She also told police that he had tried to shove a water hose down her shorts, but testified that she didn’t remember if he actually touched her shorts.
A third woman, then 17, testified that Perilloux, wearing just underwear, applied Vick’s VapoRub across the top of her breasts.
“Yes, he’s a judge. Yes, he’s got a fancy job. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, hiding in plain sight before you,” Assistant Attorney General Matthew Derbes said, “The truth is that this is a groomer.”
Defense attorney Jim Williams accused the victims of changing their stories and publicly questioned why the prosecution had not called Perilloux’s daughters to testify.
Perilloux, who was found guilty in the same courtroom where he was sworn in, is set to be sentenced on Oct. 15.
He has denied any wrongdoing.
