Russian oligarch nicknamed ‘The Sausage King’ killed with crossbow in sauna

A Russian oligarch nicknamed The Sausage King was murdered with a crossbow after he was attacked Monday morning while in a sauna.

According to reports from Russia, Vladimir Marugov and a woman were in an outdoor sauna cabin at his estate outside Moscow when two masked assailants surprised them, the woman managed to climb out a window to escape and called police. Marugov owned some of Russia’s largest meat-processing plants, including the Ozyorsky and Meat Empire sausage factories.

According to the Investigative Committee, Russia’s federal law enforcement arm, the attackers tied up the victims and demanded cash from Marugov before killing him, the pair fled in a getaway car which was later found in the wealthy Moscow suburb of Istra. A male suspect has so far been detained in connection with the murder but no other information was released.
