A man who was found dead outside a County Monaghan hotel suffered a serious head injury, gardaí (Irish police) have confirmed.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on the man earlier, but the pathologist has not yet determined the cause of death.
His body was found outside the M Hotel in Lossets on Tuesday morning.
Gardaí said it was not clear if he suffered the injury accidentally or deliberately.
They said they were continuing to treat his death as “unexplained” and that his body may have been at the gates of the hotel for some hours before he was discovered.
The M Hotel provides emergency accommodation for people seeking asylum in Ireland.
Irish broadcaster RTÉ is reporting the 25-year-old man was an asylum seeker of African origin.
